Non-marking hose - Sep 22nd, 07, 06:14 PM

For years blue, red, yellow and other colored hoses have been advertised as Non-making when in fact they do mark.

The only true Non-marking hose on the market is Grey simply because the color grey does not contain 'carbon black' which is what differentiates the two.

Another interesting fact about hose ratings is that most 5000 & 5800 PSI hoses (2 wire) are the same hose as the standard 4500 PSI hose. They have re-rated the hose by reducing the burst factor rating. For example a 4500 psi hose is rated at 4-1 which means it has an 18000 psi burst rating. Whereas a 5,800 pis hose could have a 3-1 burst factor or 3 x 5800 psi = 17,400 (1800 psi) burst factor. In all my years dealing with hose companies I have yet to see a manufacturer who manufactures a 2 wire hose with a higher burst rating than 18000 psi.

That would be like saying that a 4500 psi hose may be (but highly unlikely) rated to 9000 psi with a 2-1 burst factor or the same 18000 burst that I talked about above.

At any rate that is a excellent price on hose. OUR 4500 PSI (4-1 burst factor) GREY Non-Marking hose goes for just under $55.00 each for the 50' and just under 104.00 for the 100' Grey Non-Marking.

At any rate - this is just a few 'tid-bits' of info that I thought you just might be intrested in.
