Why would you want to do that? Just adjust them to factory spec and leave it alone.

Units that have arms like this will do much better if they hit something, as the bars can shift vs a solid bar that can shear the swivel right off.

I tweak my bars a little more than factory spec, because on regular maintenance accounts you can walk faster and still get quality results.

The life of the swivel can suffer a little depending on what brand, but it is worth it in time saved in the long run. Increasing production weighs in more than trying to get a little extra life out of something.

I was somewhat kidding Alan. (forgot to include a lite measure of sarcasm in my speach or an 'lol')... I don't think I would ever would want a fixed angle neither! It doesn't fit in with my DIY attitude of universal parts replacement that I sometimes advocate.
I tap my tips every once in awhile so I always carry a wrench..
Here is a sad thing. I put too much heat through my cheap wheeping type swivell and finally blew it up!! ;(

p.s... this place sure could use some more emoticons

What kind of surface cleaner? Sounds like the brass Clean Tech swivel. Their are a view options that you can replace it with, so hopefully you have not spent a lot to fix it yet.

What swivel it was I either forget or never knew. It was unorthodoxed off Ebay for my DIY 27" surfacer. Got a good year out of it anyway.

What you suggest?. How about from page 20 of this catalog:

http://www.dcs1.com/catalog/blaster13-24.pdf

Although I have a Deublin catalog I don't think I can afford them..
