Redwood Siding - Jul 17th, 08, 12:09 AM

Hello, my name is Robert. My grandfather recently asked me to stain his house. I have stained a few houses in the past, but not like this one. It has Redwood siding, and is dark. 10 years ago he had it power washed and a clear coat of a protection (he is not sure of what exactly) put on. He wants to get the same results, which he claims that the siding will brighten up considerably. I was going to use some Pro Clean and TSP for the wash, or is there something out there that will do a better job (keeping price some what in mind)?

He also wants some additional protection after the wash. I was going to put a clear coat of semi transparent stain, probably Sherwin Williams, on the siding. Is this a good idea? What are some of the alternatives?
