Touchy Subject - Aug 9th, 07, 03:02 PM

Hello to all. Well the time is here. I have to start recovering my wastewater. Problem is, I dont know where to start in getting my outfit set up to do this. I have called several pressure washer dealers and yes, most sell them but most cant explain exactly what I need to do this. I was hoping someone could help me and unboggle my mind and point me in the right direction. I dont want to spend and arm and a leg if I dont need to. Are recovery and reclaim the same? Where do you dump the wastewater? Are there permits required? Certification? Please help if you can. A little about me, I am in Georgia and do alot of concrete cleaning for Walmart. They are now tightening down on this so I need to get this set up if I plan to keep my contracts. Anyway, any help or info I can get on this subject is greatly appreciated.

I knew it would eventually happen there. Gwinnet county offers recovery guidelines info.
If you clean mainly resi's and they are enforcing, then you can probably make your own drain dams by filling fire hose with sand and use shop vac mounted to a two wheeler some with extra hose, and unload the vac into your trailer tank. That's a round about way, I know, but you said you didn't want to put alot of $$$ into it. Although it will still cost you a little to get setup in comliance. I got out of Georgia at the end of last year before all the recovery efforts were enforced.

OR.... Pete at Sun Brite has some pretty cool recovery equipment.
Again, Gwinett County wrote the book on how to's and if you contact them directly, they will tell you whats involved with the disposal side of things.
Be sure your drain valve is completely shut off. " That's not a hint by the way".

Recovery is like a tool box sometimes. One tool does not do it all.

You can start with the basics that work, then upgrade as needed.

Where you put your water is dependant on what is in it. Permits may be required in your area, but their is no standard. Certification is optional, as their are no industry standards on that either. Recovery & Reclaim mean that you are obtaining & controlling the water before it gets to the drain. Discharge it to the wrong place and both of those are out the window. The Walmart RFP stated no onsite discharge, so you either have to haul the water away or recycle for reuse.

Call me if you like, I have some questions that you may not want to answer on the boards.

they are cheeeep here in Alabama , my ex wife was a regional mgr. and they will NOT turn loose of more tha 100.00 to 150.00 per cleaning once a month and then you have to deal with all the brothere in law stuff , one month you get it the next month or two maybe then you see stovk boys doing it with a 200.00 walmart pressure cleaner then they call you to fix it a cpl months later for the same 150.00 max . NOT ME ! Got a better idea I am all ears

I have witnessed the same as you Russ. Now you want a good account with no hoops and guidelines, wash those post office trucks. As long as you can do a complete detailing, clean the interios, move the trucks and reclaim you can make $4 per truck.

My recommendation is to call Robert, Larry or any of the folks at Delco.
Delco Cleaning Systems of Fort Worth, Pressure Power Washers
Robert Hinderliter has been the foremost knowledgeable person in wash water reclamation due to his efforts in helping to establish some of the basics and standards in environmental pw'ing.
This is the best lead I can give you to get you off in the right direction.
