building roots blower vacuum - Nov 15th, 07, 01:35 AM

I am building a vacuum reclaim unit with a Roots 36. Has anyone built one of these before? I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to plumb the exhaust side?
2. What kind of relief valve do I need for the holding tank? Where do I get it?

Thanks,
Scott

1. You'd better plumb the discharge...through a muffler. Those things are screaming loud without one.

2. Most relief valves are a steel drum bung with holes drilled in it, a long bolt, a large disc of rubber and a disc of metal, a spring, and a wing nut. Many are plumbed in at the blower with a tee. I've got an old carpet cleaner out back...I'll see if it still has one on it.

I have a fury system. I will try and get some up close and personal pictures of it, though I do not want to take anything apart...

And yes, you do need hearing protection when these things are running.

Thanks Russ,

I'll get with Vic. I have his email address. I should have thought about that.
I should be able to get a silencer from him as well.

Thanks,
Scott
