Underground Parking - Apr 11th, 08, 03:10 AM

I am about to submit a bid for a large single level 60,000 sq/ft 450 stall underground parking job. It has multiple drains, and has mass ventilation system. I have tried to search for info on EPA standards on whether to reclaim or let it run to the drains. Also before I submit the bid is $3,500 to low?

Underground parking usually pumps the water from the bottom of the garage to the drain. If it pumps to the storm drain system then you are not legally allowed to let it go there, but if it pumps to the sanitary sewer you msy be okay. First check with the building engineer to see where it goes and if it goes to the sanitary then check with local authorities to see what kind of pretreatment they may require.

Garrett,
First, you really need to fill out the signature part of your User CP to get any legitimate answers.

Since I'm in your area, I'll say your in the ballpark as far as pricing. Do you need to perform any sweeping? This would drive the price up a touch, but not much. You never know about garages up here, some will pay good money to get them cleaned, and some will freak out at $.03 a foot. Call me up if you have any questions, I'm local but usually stay on the Mpls side of the Mississippi.

Garrett,
It's my understanding in most cities, even if it pumps to a sanitary drain, there has to at least be an intercepter. Even these have limitations . . .

Also, if you are using chemicals, these will not be removed by an intercepter so you would need to know the allowable limits of the sanitary sewer system in your area.

Check with the local water/sanitation department if you have questions, but as mentioned below, the building engineer should have some of the answers for you.

Best of luck on the project!
