Angry Dams - Mar 21st, 04, 10:19 PM

Blocking water flow at a curb, water always seems to get under my dams. Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the flow entirely?

Regards,

JD

What are you using for dams? I use 2.5" flat discharge hose filled with sand, and it works well. I prefer the sand over water as I can walk on it and flatten it out well, and not worry about it bursting.

Are you using a sump pump or vacuum to get the water out of there, or just holding the water for evap?

Using water filled, and sumping, thinking of going to 1/2 sand and 1/2 packing peanuts (to cut the weight). Problem is I want no water to defeat the dam and I never seem to get it.

JD

You need weight to keep it on the ground and packing peanuts is not going to do anything but make them lighter.
Try the hose you have with sand and see if that works, if not take a walk on it. I am looking for the big 12" flat hose, but no one carries it.

Alan,
You need to check a farm supply store for the larger sizes.I have found 4" and 6" here in Ga.I have never seen the 12" size, I can call a local place to see if they can get,and will ship it.Or, I can get you some company names and phone #'s.

Scott,
In wall to wall concrete/asphalt world, oh I mean California, I have no idea where they might have a farm supply store.
I saw the 12" hose on Ebay a long time ago, so I know they make it, but the guy had a 100 foot roll and wanted to sell the whole thing for like $600.00. I do not need that much, nor will I pay that much, but if you can find a cheaper place, That would be great.

Alan,

Bump up the weights on your nautilus equipment if you're looking to carry
those 12" pieces of hose filled with sand.

Sorry, I forgot you folks have Arnold out there to "raise the bar" and whip you into shape!

We only have "Hanz and Franz" to pump us up!

Paul you are a riot!

Alan call Hose Mart at (909) 795-1111 and ask for Chris, tell him I gave you his name and what you are looking for and a price.

I think I saw wider hose there for you.

Paul,
I can not afford any workout equipment, that is why I want that hose. Actually, since the hose will be so big and have such a large surface area, the water should do the trick. I may have to get a tanker truck to fill it up for me though.
