Ok guys and gals be totally honest here.

Your name will not show in the poll so answer as many or few as you want.

I know many of you will claim you reclaim/recapture your water but in truth you don't.

I also know many truly do reclaim/recapture the water.

(This is not a thread to turn you in or catch you lying so relax.)

No rules on reclaim in my area. You wouldnt believe what some of the industries in this area are allowed to just let flow into drains

Jeff the rules on reclaim apply everywhere. The Clean Water Act is a federal law and it specifically mentions us.

Jeff,

Reclaiming is not always the only means of compliance. Diversion (berming) for evaporation is acceptable as well, which is more than likely what would best fit your needs anyway. There are some very inexpensive and functional ways of diverting water away from storm drains and down curbs.

Maybe this thread should use the "compliant with the EPA" terminology as opposed to reclaiming.

Compliant with EPA is not necessarily city compliant. I tried the evaporation thing wiht an inspector. He was not pleased that that was the method. Ended up having a huge do with him, my customer, me, and teh customers customer. There were about 20 people in the room. I got it all sorted out, I made the inspector my friend, and found out what really pissed him off. He was riding home from work on his bicylce, hit the water on the VERY slick concrete, and landed on his rear most orifice. Got a little bruise and a big attitude.

I know you know whats right - thats why you have recently been asking about recovery equipment - right.
If I had a choice - and this is the truth - I would reclaim(and I do) - its faster and when its faster it means more profit in my pocket and no lowballers.

I always thought if the water emptied into a storm drain it had to be reclaimed. But if it goes into sewer drain and is treated at the city wastewater treatment plant is was not a problem.....

Depends where yer at apparently. Heard some places make you show them your recovery methods just to be licensed in the area. Other places allow you to put stuff down their sewer but what exactly is allowed down is unclear and I think they want a license fee for it..Then some places allow you to put so many gal. per year on an area of land for to get rid of it...
Storm drains go to waterways where fish and humans play and most frown from such...
Mean while the main downtown mall area, rail transit facilities, and residents are allowed to wash their vehicles and water their driveways regulary around here without recovery so I just guess I hold my goals high in trying to come up with recovery plan and hence respect for the feds, the wildlife, and my fellow man..

We had a day laborer do what he was told, and he washed out paint buckets in the designated spot
REALLY GOOD ! Guy was happy to be working and did a GOOD job.
... we did 5 interiors in that cul de sac that day, and there were a LOTTA buckets...
and a LOTTA water.

It ran of the site and was spotted by a random inspection.

the fine from CA RWQCB was 1.2m simoleans.

There were other factors, but they are willing to negotiate and the fine was eventually lowered a lot.

u don't want to get caught...

Time to move to Mississippi.. We use drains as water recovery.. And storm drains are the best.. When you really think about it .. If someone dumps a mop bucket out the backdoor full of degreaser and it rains where does the grease and waste water go ??? Like I say it's a government plot to disadvantage small business...They just don't like me at the IRS and The EPA and all the other Jobs of the government designed to discourage small business....
