What pump to buy ? - May 10th, 06, 11:37 AM

Just started my business and would like to get some advice on what pump to get to divert water. Was looking to berm where the water runs off and pump back to a lawn area. Would need a pump that can run dry and give me about 10 to 20 feet of lift.
Thanks in advance for any replys.

Most Centrifigul pumps dont like to be run dry!
I would suggest a roller pump, or a diapraghm pump.
They can be run dry w/o harm.
The roller pumps are very inexpensive

A Simer Smart Geyser would be the most practical and cost efficient.

roller pumps are not supposed to run dry,
(check the hypro owners manual) running them dry will cause premature wear on the rollers. a diaphram
pump cannot handle debris being sucked into them, it
will cause the valves to stick. debris (sand, dirt etc) being sucked into a roller can damage the rollers. some centrifugal pumps can be run dry. trash pumps are made for what he is trying to do.
