Heavy Equipment Reclaim - May 11th, 06, 10:24 PM

I am curious as to how everyone cleaning heavy equipment on construction sites are recovering the wash water? Are you using wash mats, wash pits, etc?

Thanks in Advance,
Amy

40 views and no replys ....... anyone reclaiming on job sites when cleaning heavy build-up of grease on Dozers ,Backhoes, Excavators, Scrapers,ect.. What would be the best way to recover flying grease and oil. And we all know what grease does and how far it travels. I've been moving equipment around trying to clean everything in the same spot, oil berming the water where its running off and collecting the oil sludge in front of the berm. I try going and using the wand like a leaf blower to get all the flyin grease in piles to collect what I can.It can be a major PITA, and oh so messy Anyone have better any ideas or ways to collect Heavy Grease Build-Up on equipment in the fields & Construction sites.

Thanks Sam

I do not clean heavy equipment, and have seen very few on these boards that do, and also recover the water.

Try this for some info. http://www.latimat.com/construction.htm

Your doing everything I do pretty much. One thing that helps is to try and scrape all of the big clumps off of the equipment first. I use putty knives and coffe cans to collect it. This cuts down on the grease flying around and getting on the ground.
I leave the cans of grease with the customer, it was theirs to begin with.
