I remember talking to Kenny Cohen who was a past PWNA BOD and a Past IWCA president about he he cleans the parking garages that he services and he told me that he uses sit on scrubbers which at the time I think he said he paid $25,000 a piece. I would like to see one of these Demo'd somewhere to see how they do on commercial flatwork to..
Hi John

I've use floor scrubbers (walk behind) before and the are awsome IF the concrete is smooth BUT if the the concrete is rough, porous, undulating/steep it just won't do the same job as the h/p water. Where the water gets INTO the concrete, the scrubber just scrubs the top.

John,
Along the same line of thought. The larger the surface cleaner the harder it is going to be to "hold" the vacuum when the concrete is not level.

Thats why I think a self propelled surface machine would be best. The Fury sytem I heard is so powerful that it can cause so much suction which could make it hard to push. I also heard though for that machine you have to adjust the wheels or do some kind of adjustment to it so that doesn't happen.

I think that a vacuum relief valve could be added to take care of that, I believe Allan mentioned this in an earlier post.

How about a self propelled 40", 8000psi, 20gpm full recovery/recyle system? I believe it's about $85k.

UPDATE: My ears must not have been working, got an email with the price and its $165,000, and that ain't no misprint.

A vacuum relief is needed when using a blower like the sutorbilt that is on the Fury system. Without it, the Hg aka Water Lift could get so severe it could do some serious damage to equipment that would also have the ability to harm the user.
With the vacuum surfacers, it is a different walk. You have the extra hose for the suction, and you have the brush to make the seal. Combine this and you tend to jerk rather than walk smooth. That is part of what people are seeing in the video.

Those Roundtables are both sounding really good. Take alot of pictures when you go to them and post them here so some of us can see what where missing....and be jealous

Bob--I'll keep that in mind because eventually I'll be in atlanta where I stay more then a day. This time I'm debating on flying in there to take the PWNA Environmental certification class which is Feb. 9th. The problem there is I have to be back to work on Saturday(Feb 10th). Looking forward in hearing about your Environmental set-up from a bunch that will be at that NC Roundtable. From the Pictures it looks like a real rock solid set-up that you put together there. R U going to demo your equipment?? If so if some one can video it and show it here that would be excellent.

I am sure that a video can be arranged but I was looking at my calendar I am free on the 8th!
Do you have any idea what time the environmental certification class starts and ends on the 9th? I have an appointment that Friday night and am not sure if I can attend - when/where is the next one.

Craig,
I agree, that would be one impressive cleaning machine. Unfortunately I think there may be some difficulties getting that design from the drawing board to actual product. I am not saying it would be impossible but difficult. It would definitely need one good sized vacuum to allow for enough airflow to capture a sufficient amount of the waste water. I think it would take somewhere in the 600 to 800 CFM range based on the requirements of our 24” Clean & Capture tool. Also, you would need to have at least an 8 GPM washer to power it with 10 or 12 GPM being better. With out the water flow you would be moving pretty slowly.

Feel free to give me a call to discuss sometime.

Thank you for your input on our products.

John,
You are right. The larger the vacuum surface tool the harder it is to contain the vacuum over the surface being cleaned. You can also have a tendency to suck down to the surface if the conditions are right. As someone mentioned in the Steel Eagle video, it looks like he is having a hard time pushing the tool. Well, in that particular case they are right. He was having a tough time because the tool was not adjusted properly for the floor conditions. They were cleaning a very smoothly finished floor and the tool would tend to suck down. By adjusting the tool up a 1/16 to 1/8” it would move much more effortlessly yet maintain its capture rate of the waste water.

Thank you for your comments on our products.
