Need Bid Help Asap - Nov 11th, 07, 07:54 PM

I am submitting a estimate to a fast food chain on monday and it is for 8 stores with drive-throughs, They are all identical is size and I am wondering what to charge. The Drive-thru is 15,000 Sq. Ft. But they want all of the stores done once a week. They are in really bad shape right now with lots of gum, grease, and tire markings. I am thinking that I would clean a small section every week to bring down the contract price but still do the same job over time. Let me know what you guys think. If possible I need answers tonight. I just got the estimate request so we are working on short notice. I apologize but thats the way it goes.

Thanks,
Daniel

I don't see doing a section at a time as an option on jobs like this.Long before you get to the end.The section you started on will be as bad as it was when you started.
Stop worrying about lowering the contract price.Ask up front if they have a budget maximum they can spend weekly. If they do cater the sq footage to meet their number.I ave done this on a few accounts and it pays off.

IMO,you need to charge an initial cleaning fee for each store.Let's say $825ish to $900ish per store(3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hrs per store).Followed by a weekly price in the neighborhood of $375ish to $450ishper store(2 to 2 1/2 hrs per store).

I dont do this kind of work, right now, but that seems like a HUGE drivethru, or is there whole driveway concrete?

Jeff,
I agree that is an abnormally large area for just a drive-thru.My price suggestions are based on that number assuming it actual sq footage to be cleaned. If that sq footage includes all areas cleanable or not then the pricing would be very different.

Ok this is an Industry leader in the "double-drive thru". So the 2 lanes travel 200+/- feet down each side of the building and then across the back. approx. 30 ft. wide. I could probably sell them on cleaning the bad areas for half the price and then do the semi-clean areas once a month just to keep them up?? Ideas??

its just as easy to do it all I would say go no more that .05 cents a sq foot n the drive thrus , Scott is right on probably with the 800 to 900 mark , I dont agree with the section thing either , 15,000 is not that much , even if it is bad you should me able to do it in a night ..... a hard night for just you alone , but if you have a helper you should be able to knock it out on 4 hours

Question for you and Scott. He said they wanted it done ONCE A WEEK. Are there fast food places that would do that much concrete 15K every week or would you do the full clean and then just zero in on just the actuall drive thru lanes. Or are there 15K drivethroughs?

I have yet to come across an account that wanted weekly cleaning. We do have several bi-monthly accounts, but the sq. footage is much lower.I personally don't see them willing to spend the $$$ weekly, but if Dan can get it I say enjoy the wind fall.

If they willing to sign a firm contract for say every week or every two week at 3 cents then I'd consider doing the initial as a freebie. Is sure to secure a long lasting good paying job.

I have some every other week contracts but no weekly , however if I were going to guess I would say you were right , clean the big part then concentrate on drivthrus and walkways, I dont see them spending enough to do 15,000 sq foot a week but , hey , ya never know !

Yes!!..when do I start?..lol

That is $3600 per week (x 4.33 wk=$15588 per mon. or $187,956 per year) for 2 to 4 hour work per day...
OR is $7,800 per mon. and $93,600 per year at every 2 week service at probably still only 3 to 5 hour a day but with a week off every other week.

What kind of idiot/dummy would give up that easy/extremely part time job???? Do the math ma man... you don't need initial cleanup charges when yer rolling in gravy...Where do I sign up???

Hey guys so here is the next plan of attack. DO 3000 sq. ft. (the bad areas) every week and then a quarterly "big" cleaning. The 3000 @.05 =150 per store Then around $600 to do the whole thing quarterly. That is assuming a 2 year weekly contract a bi-weekly would run a little closer to $180 and the "Big" would run around $750.00.??? Whatcha think?
