Help on Church bid - Mar 13th, 08, 02:08 AM

Went out to bid this church today and Hoping that 12.5% and water will clean the black mold from building.....(350 linear ft) Also anyone ever clean corrosion from copper or bronze bleeding down on steeple? Im thinking of bidding 1500.00 without lift or 1800 with lift that will be needed for steeple and front of church to clean cross....Whatcha think?

You'll definitly will need to do some test cleanings. Is that a split faced block, stone or lime stone? I would send some of these pics to Eaco chem and ask there opinion.

The test will tell a lot. Stone/block isnt always just 12% & soap kind of job, may need restoration cleaners. Maybe have Roger & Celeste look at the pics they might be able to help.

I did test a small area yesterday with hot water at 1500 psi and the black was coming off slowly.Im thinking with some emulsifier plus house wash with 12.5 should remove it ok.The corrosion Im not sure of....Might go back today and see if the green will bleach out...Also need to make sure I can get a lift in there onthe sidewalk ...grass has sprinklers...Thx for the info

Oh man,,, Gene... This isn't a normal job. I mean this with no disrespect to you. Please consult with an expert in masonry restoration.

Gene I agree with Jeff on this one. I had to bid a unique masonry cleaning a couple years ago. I would speak with Eacochem as well. I called them for some advice and they were very helpful.

Gene,
I agree with the rest of these guys, check with eacochem or prosoco for restoration cleaners. Many times washing will drive the stain deeper into the porous surface. It'll look clean but the staining will return quickly. These chems pull the pollutants and staining out. Restoration cleaning is very tricky, and cal be a real PITA. Price accordingly.

Thanks Celeste...I received a phone call this morning that was a big help on quoting this job and the proper cleaning process. This is just another example of the expert advise one can attain on this forum from other Power Washers in the same business....I am awaiting a call from the church to make a formal presentation to the board members on which way they want to go with this project....Again Thx to everyone....Lightning Gene
