Cheeseburger in Paradise Concrete floor - Mar 29th, 08, 04:49 PM

I'll be cleaning the concrete floor (inside dining area) at Cheeseburger in Paradise, after it's cleaned, the manager wants to explore the possibilty of refinishing the floor. Most of the finish has worn off. I was thinking that he might want to stain it because it may penetrate as opposed to coating the surface... He gets heavy grease traffic coming out of the kitchen and it's spreading. I'll be putting him on a monthly contract, so I'll need something for the floor that won't take a beating like the last finish??

anybody with a product suggestion? anybody want to help with the finish (never did this before)

Honestly I have no experience in what you've just asked, but i have an estimate in staining concrete on the breezeways to an apartment complex. I've done a good amount of research and so far the h&c concrete stains from sherwin Williams looks pretty damn good. I'm a big fan of doing heavy research on products and I'm really down with this product.

Regardless of penetrating or not, with such traffic it will need a coating that will sit up on the surface...

Most has worn off?..I assume it is something solid so first you need to be able to remove whatever is left. If small area you can use paint removers or you may want to go with some grinding equipment from a rental lot.
Key in any floor coating job is prep and in case of concrete it needs to be open to take whatever coating process yer into and have proper profile for adhesion. Be it acrylics or acids, transparents or solids..dual head grinders and sanding screens on swing machines is the norm to get into it.
I would say you need to find out from them what the budget is like first and what they after as they may not be prepared for the expense of proper prep and proper locking/sealing in the work with solvent borne acrylics, epoxy, or 2 part poly suitable for their traffic.

ps- some like Smith stains..some even use Masons Select from Osh now and then..heck I just seen an exterior gas stations walkways that still looks pretty good with some HD box store stuff 2 years later. I was shocked. I can only assume though that it was Baer by knowing how cheap the owner is.
