(cargo van, enclosed trailers, open trailers, box trucks, etc.)Just trying to find the most economical way to get to and from jobs and save $$$$$

F350 7.3 PSD. Get 14-15 towing my trailer loaded, even stays around 14 when I have an extra 300 gallons of water in the bed. Emty I get 18-20 depending on my right foot.
I also have a few Banks upgrades which increases power as well as mileage.

You need power to haul stuff - you aren't going to run a pressure washing company cheaply. That's just how it is. One truck may save you 1-2mpg over the other, but those differences are when trucks are brand spanking new, trust me - they all become gas hogs when the motors become 'tired'. I paid less than 3 g's for a used astrovan 3 years ago - and it has done everything I wanted to do, even pulls a 7x12 trailer. Engine is tired, uses more gas than a new truck - but hey even at $4/gallon, that's a lot of gas to equal the price of a new truck.

06 ford diesel. Usually around 13 mpg, even with a trailer. I dont know what my gas truck does. I don't want to think about it.

What are you planning on doing with the truck, and what kind of trailer are you planning on towing? I have a little toyota that we use to tow a lite trailer, and it is fantastic. Great MPG and nice to drive.

Plain Painter, if that engine had been maintained, it would not have an MPG problem. Probably the previous owner.

Dodge Quad Ram with the dinky v8 engine for both work and family. New it got 22 hwy, 14.5 pulling 4x8 all steel trailer that holds full size hot washer, autoscrubber, floor buffers. Fully loaded the extra floor machinery is like hauling a couple hundred gal of water. Mpg appeared to have went down to 12.5 but I put a slight larger sized tire on. Just can't beat a full sized truck for 17k on end of year incentive. 8K more for a Tundra that would get worse mpg seemed not worth paying for. I may go deisel on next vehicle depending on living/storage situation since bio can be made under for about a buck or so...if ya have quik easy access to plenty of fast food oil that is.

F350 SRW w/ 7.3 PSD and I get 12-14 city loaded or not. Took it down to Florida last year and pulled about 18mpg.

Our v8 cargos get around 13 city with the v6 cargo getting around 18

E250 Cargo with a V6 is the way to go IMO

I use to run all diesel until i got tired of breaking down all the time, and i am talking new stuff. Now i run 2 big block gas guzzlers, which actually dont get to much worse milage as the diesel.

And at a buck a gal less for regular gas it is almost a wash..
