Colored/Stained Concrete?? - Jul 11th, 08, 04:12 PM

I have some gum removal to do on colored concrete. Will hot water or too much pressure "within reason" damage the color. If so, what method do you guys use on colored concrete. Also for future knowledge, can I use a degreaser such as F-18 on colored or stained concrete or will it remove the color/stain. Thanks again.

Not all colored concrete reacts the same to heat, pressure or chems so do a test in a out of site corner.
Low pressure, high heat has been the overall best for me. Low pressure in the under 1000 psi range

In theory, integral colored crete or even broadcast color shouldn't be harmed. That said I have seen color pressured or leached out over time so do test spot and go easy. Take care with acid, acrylic, or urethane stains as well. Even though they are usually sealed in such can fail or chip off taking color with it.

Thanks for the info guys. The job came out good. Used hot water "160 degrees" to get the gum up and then just cleaned the rest with the surface cleaner and cold water. Came out nice.
