I have the Garmin Nuvi 360. It's ok, but nothing compared to my (now ex) 04 honda accord which is made by alpine. Unfortunately alpine doesn't make any reasonably priced units. Not sure if anyone else uses alpines technology.
I am thinking of just using my Samsung Q1 with iGuidance software. D |

If you do purchase a GPS unit try to purchase one that has NMEA input and output capability. In the future you may be able to hook it up with other electronics for additional functions.

Any advice on GPS systems for the truck. No looking to spend a ton, just enough to get me from point A to point B. Thanks.

I've got a TomTom One and I really like it. Very accurate and dependable. It comes preloaded with maps, it's update-able, and easy to use. It even has many of your big stores and restruants already programmed into it, along with gas stations. It will connect to your phone using bluetooth to check for traffic and detour you if needed- although I don't fool with that feature. It will also alert you of where traffic cameras are to help keep you from getting a ticket - I don't use that feature either, but it's there. It keeps a charge for about 5 hours, is rechargeable from your car, and can be moved from car to car. Worth every penny I spent on it.

We also use a TomTom. Very acurate and as Micah pointed out well worth the money. I know a few other guys on here that use a Garmin and they are happy with it as well.

Noticed the dates on this thread and thought for my research considering the information and prices may be outdated...
Comparing GPS systems and phone gps capabilities- My questions are: Which is working best for you, what features do you like the best and what are the subscription fee's (if any)? Price range we are looking at is $200 or less. I have seen a few peoples units and am considering either the TomTom line or the Garmin but in a 4.3" screen for Christmas. Phone based programs for my Nextel seem to be geared to be used in conjunction with our Office Pc's for tracking employees for the most part with little available as an actual street guiding format that is functional as the satellite antenna is line of site and useless in some of the heavily wooded areas we have around here. Whats your experience with either? Rod,
After trying several, a magellan and garmin, I have the TomTom One and recommend it. I bought it a year ago when it was 300 dollars. Now you can get them almost anywhere for 150 dollars or less. Still the best 300 dollars I've spent on something like that though, and I think at 150 it's a steal. It is very accurate - has got me all around Miami several times with no problems. Does very well here too. Best of all, you can upgrade it with the included SD card, or by using a USB cable that you probably already own. The unit will also connect using bluetooth to your phone to direct you around traffic and other stuff - but i've never messed with that feature. Rod...I really like this one. I got it from buy.com for around $200. They always have deals like this on them with reviews so you can find out what people that bought them think about them. (Nevermind the pocket pc) There is no subscription to the service. It comes with all maps of all 50 states. Oh yeah, it has a cool little remote with it too
