Jimmy's right. You can get it with a GPS antenna for your laptop (if you have one) for $79.00 on sale.

I may go that route if I decide to do it at all, but I really have no use for it. I check google maps if I need directions, but I'm usually pretty familiar with the area I work.

I run iGuidance on my Cingular 8525 phone with a Holux Bluetooth gps receiver. It runs in Windows Mobile. Works very well. Visual and audio directions. Also allows mapping from your database. Will also run on your laptop. I think I paid about $100 on eBay for the software and gps last year.

Google Earth and Google Maps on my cell phone. Mine doesn't have GPS built in, but you can search for roads and find where you are. Some phones are equipped with a GPS antenna, so you could do this route. Having the satellite images is very helpful.

I had one of the TomTom One's back in October in Miami. Worked flawlessly getting me around. I returned it however, because I found I didn't really need it, other then in Miami. I wish I would have kept it, because I need one now that Spring has sprung and new jobs are coming in. Now they cost 499 because they're updated, but I want the original one I had, which was 299. I'll prob get it from eBay.

I use a Garmin Sportrack Pro - I use it with Win XP and I use Street Wizard - they had good free live tech help and now they have email tech help and it does not work for me so I also use Microsoft Mappoint on my laptop - its easy to import and map Excel spread sheets and also optimize your best route between those points.
To be without a GPS - no never again not in this life or any other - go down a hiway get to a snarl up and you are off the next exit and know exactly where to go. How often have you asked someone for directions and ever got directions...usually I heard "No I’m not from around here...."
Another tip - best computer table for a vehicle is made by JOTTO Desk.
JottoDesk=
Get the one that bolts onto your truck firewall/floor, it’s pricey, but so stable and no holes to be drilled - uses existing holes. I also got the locking cables to secure the computer to the desk top - better than Velcro by far.
Best regards
Rob

Thumbs up Tom Tom - Mar 5th, 07, 09:06 PM

My Pappy has a Tom Tom, and other than the stupid name, I really like it.

There is a Nav system built into the Infiniti I took to the St. Louis RT, and we love it, but I haven't a clue who builds it. Better ask the wife.

I've had several different Garmin rigs, and in the 90's had a Loran setup. I still do, and I love it, I just hate the 11-foot aerial it requires.

Nav systems that work are a no-brainer investment in my eyes.

I have a Garmin Nuvi for work. Bought it shortly after I got the business here. Could not do without it. Well I could if I had to but would hate life. You need a unit with routing. You can use any but to be able to input address and get directions as well as ETA and update if I decide to make a different turn is soooooo nice

Mine has been off on only a couple of occasions but only by a few hundred yards and street was still right. Plus let's me know what side of the dtreet is on so I can avoid turn arond. I paid $600 at BJs wholesale which was about as good as online. Plus I wanted it NOW. I have 350 and of course 360 came out soon after and now they have a wide screen.
