Firefox 3 - Jul 2nd, 08, 09:26 AM

I'm sure most of you that use Firefox may already know this but a couple of weeks ago Mozilla released Firefox 3. I've been using it since beta 3 and it's a welcomed update; most notably is the new address bar named "places". Your history and bookmarks are searchable via the address bar- you can search for the URL, site title or bookmark title or a combination of both.

http://www.firefox.com

Edit:
If you prefer Internet Explorer, many of you know that version 7 was released last which is a good browser as well. IE8 is planned to be released later in the year.

I used it for one day a few weeks ago, but after the initial use, it never successfully loaded again. I un-and re-installed it several times, but no go.

For what little it is worth, I was liking it right up to the part where it never fired up again.

I'm pretty low-tech though, so it may well have been pilot error.

Ogden2k,

Hmmm... Firefox. Hmmm... open source. Originally developed under the Linux OS. So what is so great about Vista?

I used Firefox for a long time....started having some problems with little things that were just annoying so I switched to Flock for my browser. I like it a lot. I have nothing against Firefox, things just weren't working how I wanted them and I can be pretty picky

If you're going to post your malcontent against Windows and anything Microsoft related, take it some where else. This is a discussion about Firefox, not your personal hatred towards Windows- as such I have deleted your latest posts in this thread due to the irrelevance.

Ogden2k,

A bit sensitive, are we? Come on, two humorous graphics? Try laughing.

I use to make a very good living writing database stuff for MS operating systems. I do not "hate" an OS, that would be a bit silly. And I do not hate anyone, except for maybe Villary Clinton! Posted a while ago praising Bill Gates for his charitable 2nd career.

But go ahead, censor away, be my guest. I am not offended. And you have admin. rights.

But try doing it for other threads that go off topic. See what I mean? Such editing site wide would kill participation and views at TGS.

Please stay on topic. This thread is about Firefox. If you have something salient to add about Firefox, you are free to post.

Scott,

It is about Firefox. The browser is open source software, originally written for an open source operating system called Linux.

Scott Millen reports problems, presumably using an MS operating system. Anthony Blanton (HotShot) abandoned the Firefox browser, choosing Flock, whatever that is. Maybe it was features and not problems running an MS operating system.

So I guess it works, not so bad.

Beth loves Firefox and reports no problems.

Point is that Firefox has, and will continue to be an open source, Linux based, development project. What gets ported to Windows should work fine, but try programming for Windows!

Ya' can't have your cake and eat it too.

My firefox has worked great, from version 1 to version 3, no problems. Love it. And my windows has worked great since upgrading to XP Pro.

So what are some of the add-ons everyone is using with their Firefox?
