Sometimes I put earbud style phones in my ears then earmuffs over them to keep the noise out. Works but is awkward. Some old electric guitar muffs I had also worked. Modern stereo muffs I tried was a no go.... But yea, a muffless earbud/earplug would be something I would buy.

I use these. MOTOROKR S9 - Motorola and my phone has a 1Gb chip to store songs. They come with 3 different ear buds and one version seals very nice for me to hear music and dampen the machine noise without totaling sealing me off from the world outside.

Howstuffworks ..apparently such technology has been in use for some time in industry but we should be seeing it put to use more and more in everyday items. I ran up on info while researching quieting my atv down but wouldn't it be a great thing to quiet down our pressure washers? ps- getting off topic but.. Here is an article from 1993 about mufflers with such technolgy installed on city buses: Keeping It to a Low Roar; New York City Tries Electronic Muzzles to Zap Bus Noise - New York Times .. power increases and the 3.5% gas savings they talk about are an eye opener in these times of ever increasing gas prices! Walker was the manufacture for those but apparently they discontinued development after some success on the Viper: http://www.sagetechcorp.com/Main%20M...Vibration.html Not sure if they are the Walker of Walker Game Ear fame or not. The game ear amplifies things out in the woods and some old folk use them as hearing aids. To me it kinda smells of technology suppression as usual for the technology not being utilized in car manufacturing. Here is a aftermarket hotrod version of such muffler that runs $600 : Phantom, Electrically Operated Exhaust Mufflers Sacramento, CA "Wood Refinishing-Pressure Washing- Concrete & Vinyl Floor Care- ~~~> done right by a leftist coast" mmienterprises@hotmail.com |

I have some ear plugs that I think I bought at Lowes. They are the baffled ear plug style, but are wired for an MP3 player. I think that I paid around $40 for them.
