Which GPS do you use? - Aug 30th, 08, 06:00 PM

Many of us either have a GPS or are thinking about getting a GPS system. I thought it might be interesting to see what brands people have and what they think of them, as well as to see what others are planning to buy.

I use the Garmin C330. It needs updated though, I bought it a year ago,...one of the best tools you can have. Saves frustration and gas for that matter. Way better than mapquest. It will keep getting you back on course if you do screw up.

My htc Tilt has GPS. I usually use AT&T Navigator (~100/yr).

My wife bought a TomTom for Christmas last year. I thought it was a dumb idea ( I didn't tell her that!) but we use that GPS all the time.

I also have one in the boat (a Garmin). It's not cool to get lost out on the water.

I have a mio, I have GPS on the DVD (Avic D3) player in my work truck, i think it is Tom Tom software, and my phone. It is never a good excuse to be lost anymore.

We also use the garmin, 350. I have mostly good things to say about it. It always gets us close to where we need to be.

I had a garmin nuvi 780 w/traffic till my new truck got broken into . It was stolen along with my ipod that had about 3000 songs on it. Luckily I still have all the music on my computer. But now I can't listen to it in my truck till I replace the ipod.
The GPS was awesome. I miss it now.
My Toyota FJ Cruiser has a Lowrance baja 540c offroad nav unit. I do lots of off-roading so its perfect

Phone GPS units are a hassle, especially when driving and inputting information. I tested a few co-workers GPS units and found that Garmin is the best IMO; I have the 200W series.

The navigation UI is very simple and easy to navigate (no pun intended), I find that looking up anything from addresses, cities POI, Sat. coordinates are very quickly accessible.

I have the basic Tom Tom and love it, it saves so much time going from quote to quote and finding best available route. i use to look at a hudson or kings book and i would be driving while turning the pages (not the safest thing). The Tom Tom was the best new item i got this year, JOhn peterson, Peterson Deck Restoration

I have the Garmin Nuvi 750. It is very good at getting me to addresses that have been around for a few years, but new sub-divisions have been popping up around here faster than Garmin can update their information so I occasionally run into situations where it I can't count on it alone.

Today, however, my Garmin really proved to be a valuable asset. The on/off switch went bad on my deckster while I was staining a deck. I was working in an area I was unfamiliar with and I had no idea where the nearest parts store was located. I went to my Garmin and punched in points of interest, scrolled through the menu and found it actually had a listing for automotive parts stores. I touched the screen for auto parts and it instantly gave me directions to an Auto Zone only two miles from where I was working.
