what kind of digital camera do you use? -
Oct 30th, 04, 08:48 PM
Hello everyone,
I am finally going to buy a digital camera. I would like to know what brands are good and what to stay away from. I have seen great pictures on all the boards and need to get a good camera since my 35mm does not do all that good. Please respond on the board or email me. Thanks. We have a little HP photosmart 620 - it's done its job nicely, yet it's inexpensive enough that if it were to ever be stolen from the truck (we work ALOT in a development where there are many many folks around) it wouldn't kill us to replace it. Takes some pretty nice pics as well

Olympus C-750 A really awesome camera and does very well indoors as well. My wife is a picture fanatic and she just loves it.

If you're not looking for beaucoup features and are planning to be working around wet conditions, Olympus has a pretty nice point-and-shoot camera they bill as being water resistant and rather rugged. I think it has a titanium or aluminum outer shell and a sliding case to completely cover the case when not in use. Nice size too. If you are looking to buy a camera that can do some *really* neat things as far as photography is concerned, however, you should consider one of the SLRs that are on the market. They are finally dropping below the $1000 mark and are really cool, but are a little more bulky (but not bad if you're used to your 35mm) and out of many folks' price range for just shooting before and after pics (really good at other functions, though). Check out
http://www.dpreview.com and http://www.circuitcity.com for information on digicams. The circuitcity site has many reviews for lots of different styles of cameras, both positive and negative, and were very accurate and comprehensive. I used both of these sites when making my purchasing decision (consumer reports is good at quantitative evaluations, but there's nothing like someone who has used and abused a camera to give the real lowdown on the features). Edit: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...27&product=957 Link to the Olympus Stylus 410, good rugged cam. |

I use a Kodak. My philosophy has been that I don't want to take an expensive camera on the job with me because I can't always ensure it gets treated properly. Maybe it's a good idea to use a less expensive model for work, and save the nice, feature laden model for personal use.

Kodak DX7630
http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQueri...q-locale=en_US It's a 6.1 megapixel and it takes awesome pictures. It's not as solidly built at the Cannon's and Nikons, but it takes great pics for $350.00. Visual Appeal LLC Lou Beach, Owner 410-218-0655 Give your Property "Visual Appeal"
