Does anyone know of a program that will... - Dec 27th, 04, 10:29 PM

I am looking to compile a data base of all clients and possible clients. I know there are some programs out there that do some of what I am looking for but not all. I am looking to be able to quiry my data base under several different headings not just a general listing. I would like to search by: geographic area like state and county, company name, etc.... I would also like to be able to track how and how many times I have contacted them. Can anyone help? I know there are some programs that you can program but I'm no computer wiz.

thanks,

We use ACT! for this purpose. I have also heard good things about Goldmine.

Depending upon how you order your lists, Excel and Access can do that, as can most any spreadsheet programs. Look around for an older version like Excel 95...probably can get it super cheap and it will do all you need it to.

Excel can mnake you a list, but not sure if you can make it searchable. Outlook also has a "Business Contact Manager" that is very nice, and makes it easy to email your contacts as well. Both are part of the MS Office package.

I've never used ACT, but I've heard alot of good things about it.

In Access you can make a list that is searchable by any field you have entered. You can create reports based on any criteria you want. It's a nice program, and can be had cheap used. Find a copy of Office 97 on ebay. Or, spend the money for ACT. I'm sure it will be easier to set up and use, and it appears to be a popular program!

For those using ACT, can it be integrated into older versions of Quick Books Pro. I have the 99 version of QB Pro.

No it cant be integrated... I downloaded the trial version of act to mess around with. I think it is better than Quickbooks client manager which I currently use, I went on ebay and bought a new version of ACT 6.0 2004 for $28.00. Version 2005 7.0 just came out so the previousversions are a dime a dozen.

I couldn't find anywhere on their website to download a demo. How long ago was this?

Mike here us the link for the free trial, you will need to register qith them before they will let you download it. Also they do have an addon package to integrate with Quickbooks, I think I will keep them separate for now.

I scored on the full version on 7.0. If you are interested in the full version of 6.0 (unregistered and not previously used ) let me know. Also I will be unloading my Quickbooks Client Manager if you know on anyone interested

We have used the integration. It worked fine until we installed a network. I need to fiddle with it and get it working again....
