GPS System - easy to use and outstanding price - May 24th, 06, 09:00 PM

A friend of ours recently purchased a Garmin c320 GPS system and I was able to test it out - it's so easy to use. I ordered one today after getting bad directions from a customer and having to call my wife to look it up on Mapquest. Saves a lot of time and frustration, It visually shows you every turn and talks you through every step of the way.

I'm sure most GPS systems do this, but this one seemed super easy for a tech novice and not that pricey. Got it on ebay for a little under 300. Will be getting it in the mail in a couple of days!!

Great deals on gps's!

I have 2 of them and I never leave without mine. They have paid for themselves many times over!

Why not a local streets map book? I use one, and have always found what I'm looking for.

I was using the local map book until I purchased a laptop. Its less of a hassle using a gps system.

There's nothing wrong with a local streets map book, however, if you tried using a GPS, you'll likely leave that map book at home.
I know using Microsoft Streets & Maps with a laptop, you can preplan your trip, esp. if you are traveling a long distance and you're not familiar with the area you are going to, it will be noticeable quite quickly if you go off the route that you planned. A green marker drags along where you are at and the blue marker is where you are going. If the two ever get separated, it's obvious you are going the wrong way.
There are all kinds of GPS's, but if you already have a laptop, you can get MS Streets and Maps with the GPS included for around $100 from Samsclub.
I took a trip once and wasn't familiar with the city I was going to be in. I set the laptop on the passenger seat and glanced at it every once in a while to make sure I was going the right way. I did make a wrong turn and I didn't have to even pick up the laptop, I just saw where the 2 lines separated, turned around and made the correct turn and saw I was back on course. Hope that helps some.
