Has anyone ever used this for heat? - Oct 25th, 06, 10:16 AM

I'm considering a couple of these for my garage to keep it from freezing and not have to mess with antifreeze, etc. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm most concerned about safety...

Thanks for any input.

I wonder if that can work well in and enclosed trailer. Being so cold up here in the winter the antefreeze thing is a must. But it would be nice to go out to do a commercial account with the trailer nice and warm..

I ordered one to see how it will work in the nursery this winter. We typically keep the house around 63 in the winter and have timers on heaters in the bathrooms to bring them up to about 68 by the time we wake up. I was looking to by a conection oil heater for the nursery anyway....we'll give this one a shot!
I'll let you know how it works.

I decided to order 2 for my garage. It's about 400 sf, and of course the company recommends 4, but I'm not looking for a balmy 72 degrees, I just want to take the chill out of the air...we'll see how they work shortly...I'll keep you all posted.

Hey, just a quick update...I installed 2 of these in my garage (400sf) this afternoon (EASY install). My garage is insulated, but the door is pretty drafty. It is currently 40 degrees outside and my garage is pretty toasty. It's not balmy by any means, but it's warm enough that I think they'll keep my water from freezing. Worst case scenario, I'd add 1 or 2 more. They're pretty cool, sorta like big floor tiles with an electric cord. I am so excited, because I didn't want to mess with space heaters, antifreeze, etc. in case of a cold winter. I'll let you know how they on those rare occasions when it drops into the teens. I like them because of the safety factor. Just a heads up in case you don't want to mess with clearing the lines and antifreeze.
