When you open up Word for the first time after you lose a file it should automatically pop up with something saying do you want to open the recovered file or delete it? This might help too.

Hey Ken!
If you didn't save the recovered files before shut down...they're gone. When Word pops up to tell you they're there, that's pretty much your last chance to save them before you close Word again. |

Ken,
Set it for autosave. Trust me...it helps. I hate it when things like that happen. Very frustrating. Beth Log Home Care & Maintenance Cob Blasting Log Homes Pressure Washing Decks House Washing Beth Borrego & Rod Rodriguez Office: 301-540-1243 Germantown, MD * MHIC# 86481 |

Ken -
A very similar thing happened to me while helping my son with his homework. If you have Google Desktop and can remember an obscure word that was in the document, this will work...Pull up Google Desktop and do a search on your computer for the obscure word that was in the document. Chances are, it will come up on the Google search and you will be able to see the text. Just copy the text and paste it into a new Word document and voila! Hope that works for you... - John |
