pic printer - Jan 5th, 07, 08:18 PM

Okay, I've had this printer setting on my desk for almost a year now, and cannot figure out how to print a pic. I got it free with a comp. I bought at BB. Cannon Pixma iP1600. All software is loaded, everything functions properly up to the point of the pic actually being printed.
I don't know if I'm putting in the photopaper wrong/backwards/sidways, or what. If Shane or nobody else can give me some tips right away, I'll try and post a video of what happens. Keep in mind, my aptitude for this sort of thing is very low. I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to insert the paper in from the bottom or top (I'm actually serious) and the instructions weren't helpful at all. Attached is a pic....if someone can give me a real basic rundown (like if the paper goes in gloss down/up, horizontal/vertical, justified left/right, or whatever. If I cannot figure it out soon, it's getting the 12 gauge.

Wink Jon, This Post Won't Help, But... - Jan 5th, 07, 08:33 PM

I'm with you in spirit, Brother!

You've actually helped me without knowing it. I, too, am a neophyte when it comes to these electronic daykillers on our desks. I now know i can post questions I might think are too basic. (I'm actually serious)

Thanks, my man!

Sorry about the no help thing, I have an Epson, and my directions for photo printing include, "Call your much more intelligent wife to the office. she will need to be lured. Call her by imitating the sound of a wounded bowl of whatever flavor of ice cream you find least desirable...

Good luck! (serious, again)

Hopefully I'll save you the four phone calls to Cannon that I had to make.

On XP go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > View Installed printers. Make sure the Pixma1600 has a check mark next to it as your default printer. Right clcik on the icon for it and if it is not check as default a menu will appear where you can select that option as well make sure the printer is "online" (it will have "ready" or "offline" underneath the icon to indicate its status.

If you have ever had another printer installed, you may have to do an L4 uninstall to clear any conflict. I'd have to talk you through that. For what its worth, I used the Pixma for a wek and then gave it to my daughter. I didn't like it. Yours might be a better model?
