Tester with dial up Web access needed. - Feb 8th, 07, 06:50 AM

Finished coding for two photo galleries. Works fast on cable modem, but am concerned with dial up access response times.

If anyone has the interest and time to test this code from their computer with a dial up internet connection, please email me at:

spamicide@comcast.net and I'll forward the url. Nothing secret, but this website still has a long way to go before public viewing.

Thanks.

Man.... if you had done this in November..... we escaped from the evil clutches of dial up in December.
Look at your image sizes. Find an average size. Download Fireworks in a trial from Adobe and view the image in there...it will tell you (at least in my old version it does) what the average load time is for a graphic given a dial up connection. There used to be free tools online that would test your site for load time given certain connections as well. Reduce load time by optimizing graphics with GifBot

Beth,

The large gallery is 74 jpeg files ranging in size from 360 - 780 KB. Its a client side application that uses XML and Javascript. All files have been optimized for desired display size. I'm surprised its very fast with cable modem access. ASO must have put me on a good shared server and and use http compression.

Thanks for the hint. Googled the following site:

OctaGate SiteTimer

But it only reflects my connection and the thumbnail page. Can't figure out how to direct link to the big format page.

Anthony,

Its available anywhere that has access to phone lines but looks like its dying a very quick death.

There is nowhere in my operating that is rural (ie no cable lines) If someone can't afford high speed access, they probably don't want me around anyway. Rick I shoot for under 100K for my pics.
