Fans - Oct 7th, 07, 12:37 PM

Where is the best place to buy a fan? One of my customers wants me to quote him some new fans. He wants the small mushroom fans 20 inch base. The restaurant is a Japanese Steak house, and he already changed 3 out of the 8 fans he needs.

What is the markup for this?

Thanks everyone for your help.

you have the first bit of information needed to replace the fan, the base size. What about kind of appliance, fuel, temp, size of appliance, size of duct, number and size of filters, arrangement of filters? Any intake air, interlocked, size of duct, CFM, location of intake supply and outlet of intake air. What is the electrical voltage, amperage, flex or hard pipe? is this work outside your license? Do you have a supplier? These are all questions you need to answer before you can give a price.

But fans can be profitable, we offer that service to our customers.

also...if it's for grease then downblast fans are not in compliance with NFPA standards. They are the ones that look like mushrooms. You need upblast.

HAHAHAHA Come to Mississippi and look at all the chinese restaurant with downblast fans. They buy these to hide the apperance of grease..I actually had a guy at a chinese restaurant tell me to give him a better price since I did not have to clean the fan because the fan was facing down and it was hard for the inspectors to see that it was dirty,, I sort of ran out of that place,, also to top it off I usually have a few calls a week asking me how much for just a hood cleaning sticker (no cleaning , just sticker )

never ever let the customer that don't know diddly squat about air movement in hoods spec. the fan. like douglas said there are many questions and you have to know what your doing or this sell will come back and haunt you. duct size, hood size, filter size, island hoods, wall hoods, voltages, amps, cooking appliances, gas or electric, charbroilers, heat on and on . and never sell a mushroom for a grease hood fan. this is a real good way to ruin roofing and cause a fire.

Fans must buy in places, where fans are obtained from low rate and best quality
