Started out in this business expecting to do hoods. I got into the wood end of the business and decided that I was developing a "grease allergy." Now, wood has been very good to me. I won't ever forget the hoods I did and the stories I have from them. Hood guys certainly have my respect. In three years I have been not cleaned any hoods yet. I am somewhat intimidated by the liability aspect of it. What are the probabilities that a fire could occur after cleaning, if not cleaned to bare metal? I get calls for this service every once in a while but have said no so far. Since I am so nosey, I should tell you all how and what became. I started P.W. three years ago, decks and houses and etc., but was slow with out a name. Good friend of mine was a hood cleaner, He was moving and asked if I wanted some accounts, he taught me and showed me, I went to pwna for school and the rest is History. Hoods are at least 90 to 95 percent of my Business. Matt Q.C. Iowa |

Nice job Bryan. I see you took my advice about using the powder. But where did you get the shiney powder? Matt, got into pressure washing business three years ago on a part time basis. I too certified with PWNA as a kitchen exhaust cleaner and washed hoods for one year. Insurance costs were the reason I quit hoods. They were $1800.00 the first year and jumped to $2700.00 the next! Joe Walters wouldn't cover us without three years experience. I've never had a claim. Insurance costs make this a difficult business to enter. I'm know doing commercial flat work awnings on a PT basis and researching wood restoration. Happy Holidays! |
