Electric Pressure Washer - Jan 11th, 08, 06:01 PM

I bid on cleaning a new hospital kitchen hood system that is so far from the entrance that I can't run my high pressure hose from the trailer to it.

I need to buy an electric machine that I can hook up to their hot water. I would prefer one that runs on 120 volts.

I understand some people are using units that have Cat pumps which seem to stand up to the hot water.

Is this something I should consider or are there other models that might be better suited?

I'm looking for advice on what to buy and where I should buy one. I have about two weeks to buy one.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

AR makes a small carry around unit that is hot water capable. Hydro Tek has a wheel mounted unit that will accept hot water and has auto start / stop. Call me Monday and we'll go over your options.

TRX is a good one, keeps on ticking. I picked up a $500 unit from Northern tool recently with a cat pump, works good also.

We run almost exclusively on those TRX units. For the price and convenience, they cant be beat. I have converted several of my "old timers" that have been lugging around huge units for years by showing them how well the TRX works.

But talk is cheap, here are some of the results we have gotten with this unit. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go portable. Make sure you get the replacement water inlet, Paul will know what you are talking about.

Thanks for the advice. Is the TRX capable of running a Mosmatic duct spinner and how hot of water can it accept?
By the way, great photos.

I believe the specs say that it can take up to 185...and yes, it will run a duct spinner.

The original poster said he wanted to hook up hot water to it.

That can be done? I thought it would damage the pump, thats sweet.

I need one or two of those babys.

Ron...yes, you can hook hot water to them IF they have the "hot water kit" in them. They are sold with the hot water kit.

I got my TRX yesterday and have a couple of questions.
First what nozzle size do you use for this, a 3.5 or a 4? I want to use my own wands.

When the TRX is in bypass mine will click and pressurize the hose about once per second or two as if there were a leak and then it instantaniously goes back into bypass. I can't find a leak in the hose or triggergun that would cause this. I can see the pressure gauge spike when this happens. Any ideas?

Use a 4.0 tip. as far as the clicking into byass check the pressure sensor on the unloader sounds like it might be bad/defective. Just for the record the TRX needs QD's on both the inlet and outlets .The inlet you can use a Brass hose QD like e spec sells or go to Home cheapo they sell the same thing . As far as the outlet you beed a QD with a 22mm female threaded base. mine has been used/abused for just over one year with no problems what so ever.

Thanks

I bought a 4.0 nozzle and found a miniscule leak in the trigger gun that was causing the spiking.

Outstanding in my opinion. I want to say they no longer use the plastic ends on the inlet/exits but I can not say 100% they do not use them anymore. If mine were to go out tonight I would have considered it a normal wear and tear and fix it. I paid for the unit with one ( the first job) we used it on.
