Winterizing sprinkler systems -
Oct 13th, 06, 09:22 PM
Does anyone offer winterizing sprinkler systems? With the winters we get
here in the Midwest it's something me and a friend have talked about. Also any advice on this would be great. Thanks in advance. David Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 843-903-1260 Pressure Washing Myrtle Beach Roof Cleaning Myrtle Beach Concrete Cleaning Myrtle Beach |

Winterizing a sprinkler system is just blowing it out befor the first hard freeze. I worked installing systems one summer at college and then we just rented a compresser, motor driven, and went around blowing out the systems. Make a $4.00 adapter for the compresser and you are in business. We charged $30.00 to $60.00 dollers depending on the amount of zones the system had. A large system took about 30 minutes depending on the compresser. We used about 100 pounds of pressure. A large tank is a must or you spend a lot of time waiting for the compresser to build back up. Thats why we rented one.

Make sure to keep the pressure down, the higher pressures will have atendency to burst and rupture lines underground. 60-100 psi is usually about the max you want to go to avoid damage. Like pressure washers more flow, less pressure.
