What exactly does the paint coat do for it, other than make it look a little nicer?

Hey Bryan, The paint coating really serves a dual purpose, as you stated makes it look nicer, but also, in since it is steel, it protects it from rusting. However, these are 14 gauge steel so any rust would just be surface for a long time and wouldn't have any material affect. Personally, I like the coated ones better, but I was hearing from others that they didn't feel it was a necessary and offered us an opportunity to reduce the labor and ultimately the cost. I take it the stencils are permanent?

Hey Don.......not sure what you mean by permanent? If you apply with a PW, then the image will fade with nature. If you apply with Paint, then I guess that's semi-permanent. But the product itself is 14 gauge steel, so its pretty permanent.

The thought of painting it on ...don't like that. Seems like an invitation for a mess.... People are inconsiderate enough to walk through it.

Yeah, I agree Beth, like they say on Seinfeld, "People are the worst"! Although as far as painting, they do work well for painting, thinks like "NO SWIMMING, NO DIVING, and my personal favorite FREE BEER".
