Thumbs up DC Area Round Table Meeting Nov 1st! - Oct 18th, 03, 06:20 PM

The DC area Round Table Meeting will be held...

When: Saturday Nov. 1st
Time: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Where: Hard Times Cafe in Rockville http://www.hardtimes.com/rockville.htm

Russell Cissell from Extreme Solutions will be joining us talk about wood care, and is coming in from St. Louis, Mo! Other topics will include commercial work such as fleets, flatwork and so forth. This will be a down to earth fun exchange of information and stories from the field.

Please email beth@seedirtrun.com if you plan to attend or give us a call. We'll need a count by Oct. 31st for the restaurant.

Door prizes will be given away. Bring an appetite. Lunch is on us!

Beth & Rod

(for those who attended last year, this is not the same Hard Times location as the last meeting. Please note this years location.)

This meeting is filling up nicely, with folks coming in from out of town as well. It should be a great event with lots of open communication and idea sharing! Don't miss this chance to learn and grow for only the cost of travel!

These meetings are wonderful for answering many questions and addressing basic issues we all face. They help us to think of things we have not yet, and to come up with new ideas as they springboard off of other people's thoughts. These meetings also let us all know that we are not as alone as we may sometimes feel when we are out there working and nothing seems to go right. You'll be amazed at the similar experiences, and the problem resolutions as well as the willingness others have to discuss it.

Come learn, grow, and of course eat some darn good chili!

So far we have 11 companies as a yes, and the total of people is about 18.

We have 7 maybes.

Some of you have asked if you can contact others you know and invite them.

Absolutely YES. This is all about having as many companies as we can getting together to network, learn, grow, and enjoy some time together. If you are thinking about coming or about inviting another company to come with you, please do.

This is just not fair, what is it with Southern California PWers that they are scared of having a Round Table meeting?

Same as last year, 2 or 3 are willing and that does not make a Round Table, we can meet anytime but to get all or as many as we can just does not work here.

Wake up So. CA. and stop being afraid to meet your competitors, we don't talk about accounts, we talk about everything else.

Jon

PS: Beth how about I pay for my own lunch and you pay the round trip ticket to get there and back home?

Folks,

The roundtables are definitely worth the time.

My friend who went with me to Memphis picked up several valuable tips just standing in the Wal-Mart parking lot waiting for everyone to show up. He is an almost full time "newbie" who commented he was in information overload as we drove back to Little Rock.

Jon, I hope you can get one together for southern California in the future. Also, are you okay with the fires near you?

Beth, be sure to take plenty of pictures (high resolution) for us to pick from for the magazine. Call me next week so we can figure out the best way for you to get them here.

Always be safe,

Chuck

Chuck thanks for thinking of us concerning the fires, we live about 10 or so miles from the base of the fire so are ok, no embers flying this far, just ask and smoke as it is with Alan in Simi Valley.

What I worry about is we might have tight water restrictions and even though as a rule PWers who need water to earn a living are exempt they might not be so easy on us this time.

That and businesses might cut back to help means lost accounts or cuts in service.

Thank You! - Nov 2nd, 03, 09:56 AM

I took a road trip with a couple of contractors from NJ and went down to Beth and Rod's Roundtable Meeting. I wanted to thank them for being great hosts and the chili was great! Great conversations and getting together with others to "talk shop" is always fun to me. I learn something from all of these encounters and yesterday was no exception. Russ Cissell flew in from St. Louis and added a great deal of knowledge and know-how to the meeting. It was a pleasure to meet Russ and put a face to the name, thanks. To Beth and Rod thanks for a great time and it was great to get together with you and all the other folks!

Thank you Everett, it's our pleasure. We enjoyed meeting many folks for the first time and also seeing some folks who we had met before.

There was lots of wood care talk, a little marketing talk, some tips and tricks went back and forth, and there was even some equipemnt trouble shooting at demo time, which helped one person out alot.

I'll post some photos in the album soon.
