Minneapolis Graffiti problem - Mar 15th, 08, 09:02 PM

Minneapolis Mn, is really trying to crack down on a major graffiti problem. The news is all over it now, offering grants matching community funds up to 10,000.00 to try and curb the problem. Apparently 38th st. is a real problem. I wish it was feasible to group some people in the pw community along with some blasters and offer a cleanup for cost to try and get them going in the right direction. It would probably get us some great publicity along with it, the way the news is covering it im sure the networks would cover us also.

Celeste has been working with Law enforcement in Nc & SC for training of PWNC contractors to teacch identification in order to help with gang activity. There are plenty of opportunities to help with graffiti removal and pressurew washers are the ones to do it.

As far as Minneapolis graffiti is concerned, the City's public works dept. does all public areas and buildings. No contracts for cleaning. Private property owners are required by ordinance to remove the graffiti within 3 days from the day its reported. There's plenty of reputable PW companies in the area that handle graffiti, including myself, but the problem is minuscule compared to other large metropolitan areas. I'd do it for free just for the press, but I don't see the widespread graffiti you're referring to. We handle a fair amount of graffiti throughout the year, but it hasn't increased in volume on our end. Maybe it will now.
