Graffiti removal from glass - May 10th, 05, 05:27 PM

I am going to do a job this Fri trying to remove graffiti from the glass on a Circle K store. Anyone have experience or done this successfully in the past? What did you use?

Thanks.

should be able to get it with a razor blade I would think. thats how you do paint overspray. make sure you keep the window wet, to avoid scratching.

Yeah,what Jon said.

Take your time and keep plenty of new blades on hand.

Keep it wet and soapy- Less friction the better- 4 to 6 inch blade- and remove the debrie with a piece of card board - swipe it through after scraping- this removes crap on blade- Blade work better- sharper not dull- good blade=======

Only push the razor one way, do not go back and forth.

I have an auto account, that buys from auctions and they always mark on the windshields and glass with the yellow grease pencils. Pressure will not take off the writing. I have had great success with a product called goo gone. about 2.00 a bottle.
I don't know how large your work area is but this stuff works great and has about a 20 second dwell time squirted directly on the area. I use a plastic bristle (stiff) brush and it breaks it right up. It may take a little longer to break up paint. It may be worth a try and save you some time verses all that scraping. Plus there is nothing worse than a deep cut from a razor blade. Hope this helps.

Throw some acetone on a rag and wipe it off. Follow with some glass cleaner and a clean rag. Wear gloves definitely (and a respirator if you're into that kind of thing).

I sense a learning opportunity. Why not push and pull?

What kind of graffiti is it? I have my own ultra secret blend of chemicals that I use for graffiti removal on just about everything. Seems to work for most stuff.

Carburetor cleaner from Walmart. .93 cents a can. I buy it 24 cans at a time, adn I do not have a truck with a carburetor.

Pulling back is a sure fire way to scratch the glass.
