Remove Adhesive Glue from Concrete? -
Feb 20th, 06, 04:19 PM
Quick question...
I have a client that is asking how to remove adhesive glue from concrete steps? I think there was some carpet placed on the steps years ago but the glue is still there. Carlos a grinder will work. You could also try prosoco fast acting stripper.

Some Citrus solvents work with some of those glues. I have used a product called De-Solv-It Contractor's Solvent which is a concentrated citrus solvent, that dissolves the product.(www.orange-sol.com)
Depending on how nasty of chemical you can or want to use, MEK But the strippers may work as well, each will need some time to work. A grinding wheel will clog as it basically melts into the adhesive, at least it did when I have tried. Have you tried cranking up the heat on the PW and work it with a tight tip? I did not have a PW when I had to deal with it, it may work depending on age?? DECORATIVE CONCRETE OVERLAYS AND WATER FEATURES Brent Forbis: President Web: www.cspwap.com |

MEK will flash too quick to do any good. if it is not a lot of s.f. you could grind it off with a 4" grinder with a diamond cup.

Thanks Jim on the MEK flash... That was a guess.
Besides, that is really too nasty to really consider an option. Good luck on the grinding Carlos DECORATIVE CONCRETE OVERLAYS AND WATER FEATURES Brent Forbis: President Web: www.cspwap.com |

Just finnished this type of job for a local contractor (and friend). It was a covered patio which had 15 year old carpet on it. The homeowner put the carpet down himself and his wife told me he put down EXTRA glue.
We tried everything, from paint strippers to HIGH heat, to cold, to scraping, to burning. Well after a few tries (and a few days of coming back) we ended up using laquer thinner. and heat. but before w did that, we would scrape it to get the 'heavy' stuff off. IT SUCKED! But we got it done. Now my friend is going to tile it. the only benefit was the fact that I didn't put a price on it. So i din't lose money!!
