Round Table - Feb 18 - Results - Feb 19th, 06, 11:48 PM

First off, I'd like to thank brothers Eric & Bob Thompson for generously opening their doors at Atomic Cleaning Systems for our meeting.

The attendees:

Doug Tripp Special T-E Inc
Ron Morgan Morgan Power Wash
Jesse Benson Benson Power Washing
Shane Ratliff No name yet
Marc Woita Kwik-Klean Inc
Brian Vincent Mobile Wash Services
John Vermeclew Golden Touch
Jarrod Grumblaye MPW
Tony Caruso A-Plus Power Washing
Derrick Simmons State of Michigan Dept of Environmental Quality

Starting off, everyone milled around the Atomic shop, which had some really nice Landa equipment, a fully stocked parts department, and a cavernous back repair shop area with various pieces of equipment in states of repair.

The first thing that struck me was how clean, and spacious the place was, compared to other power washing equipment dealers I had seen before. You can tell thes Thompsons know how to run a quality showroom/shop. THey had several banquet style tables set up, with paper and pens, for those that wanted to take notes.

Derrick from the DEQ started off with an informative presentation regarding the rules and permits required that power washers in Michigan need to be aware of. Derrick tailored his presentation for our needs specifically, and brought handouts of current info for us. He explained the process for obtaining permits, then followed up with an open question and answer period. I think everyone present now has a much better understanding of how we can affect ground water.

After Derricks' 1.5 hour presentation, we began to smell smoke......but as it turned out, it was Rob in the back cooking hot dogs and brats on the grill! They fed us like kings, with all kinds of chips, dips, cookies, and sodas a person could eat.

Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, alot of the folks we expected to show, and add content, were unable to attend, so the rest of the time was spent networking, sharing techniques and whatnot, and learning about some of the great products Atomic carried.

I think everybody took away some valuable information, and I'd have to say the time was well spent.

I'm hoping others will chip in their experiences and what they may have learned, because I wasn't able to monitor everything going on.

In fact, time flew by, and I forgot to get a group photo! But I did get one of the outside of the building, something I'll show as sort of a thanks to Atomic Cleaning Systems for hosting us all.

As Tony mentioned the meeting went very well. A few people could not make it because of the weather. I would just like to add my thanks to Atomic Cleaning for hosting the group.

I did not ask at the meeting but, how many would want to make this permantent thing and meet on a consistant (semi- or annual ) basis?

Doug
