Something to keep in mind....

lets start thinking about a name for the org ~

start thinking whether or not you want a committee to initally lead the org from the beginning. ~

nominate who you would think would be a good individual to sit on that committee

who else could be on the Advisory Committee

Let's get this started.

Carlos, thank you very much for the offer. I am humbled to be considered but I must politely decline. PressurePros, Inc and Restore-A-Deck are in high growth transition and require my full attention. If, in the near future I can be certain that everything is in place with my businesses and forums, I would be happy to offer my limited knowlege and skillset.

Ken,

I understand and suspected that was the case. Our brief discussion over breakfast in PA really did shed some light on what you are doing with your business. Hat's off to you!

I think everyone shares the same sentiment that your expertise would and still can come in handy as the new organization takes off!!

I will help in an advisory capacity, share my feedback and ideas, and volunteer a reasonable amount of time. But.... No BOD seat for me.

Our business and our family are our focus, and that has to come first.

Beth

I am certainly honored that some feel that I can do this and/or should be considered as one individual that could lead the charge.

I am not so sure that having a President initially is the right course of action. If we all remember at the RT we concluded that this effort should be accomplished on all fronts.

I was encouraged by the group process approach at the RT and feel very strongly that the group process would be necessary in order to give this new organization a solid chance of landing on it's feet in it's eary stages.

In this thread alone we have many experienced and talented individuals that have offered to assist in this endeavor. The anchor and personality of contractors of this organization should be interwoven by that talent and experience.

Some of you may remember the email that I broadcasted to you reiterating that we as a group must build this foundation together and establish our course and direction in the industry as a body. Taken ownership of establishing a new organization is no easy tasks and it is human nature for each and everyone of us to take the position of "well let's see who goes first".

The industry today consist of many great ideas with little or no direction. Before we as a organization can determine where we want to GO we FIRST must figure out where we are AT. If we find that we are not where we want to be ~ then we as a group must ALL work together to move in the direction of where we WANT to go. ** say that 10 times after a few beers! LOL.

The above statement is where the work must begin. We as a group must get accustomed with the idea that the initial stages will be long and tenuous - meaning out of the limelight. A cross section of contractors, vendors, manufactures must dialogue amongst each other in this group to "gel" the principals and legacy of the organization!

We are far from sponsoring RT's and establishing conventions;

We are far from asking the public to trust us as we have a hard time trusting each other;

We are far from establishing a creditable presence in the industry;

We are far from gaining and retaining the respect of major vendors and manuractures in the indstry;

Why is this so? ~ It is because we have not earned it and it would be presumptous for any one of us to think we have!!

The days of contractors wondering "why" and "how come" must come to an end. We as a industry must roll up our sleeves and dive into the "meat and potatoes" of what this organization will represent.

As some can tell, I do have a passion for this industry and owe a great deal of thanks and gratitude to the many people that have helped me, supported me and criticized me along the way for the last 5-6 years on these boards and in person!

We can do this - just try - I dare you
