My PWNA membership is about to expire - Mar 23rd, 08, 10:15 PM

I just received a notice in the mail from the PWNA that my dues will be owed for 2008. To re-up I have to pay $350 and I have at most 90 days to renew or my membership will be voided/suspended.

Decisions decisions. On one breath $350 is not a whole heck of alot of money but the economy being the way it is every decreasing value US currency counts. I've been a PWNA member now for at least 8 consecutive years and the last two years have been somewhat of a disappointment to say the least.

So now there like a shell of what they were two short years ago. Can they turn it around...maybe. Is it worth $350 for me to stay on to find out?? Most likely not.

I always sang the praises about the PWNA back in the day when they deserved it and I also was a harsh critic of them when things got weren't going so well. I always felt I had that right since I was always an on time paying member. But to pay $350 now for not much return is a hard nut to swallow.

I decided I am going to wait to near the end of my 90 days to see what news they have to relay to the public. I am rooting for them to dig out of this rut they got themselves into and from what I last heard they do have that opportunity since some of the heavy financial burden they had has and is being taken care of.

Decisions decisions...............

John, if for no other reason than your dedication and commitment, any group is lucky to have you as a member. I know you have dedicated heart and soul to getting an industry org up and running. Kudos for that.

Its a no brainer for ya, your a past BOD member. Its worth the marketing.... Plus it would be funny to drop out now, your website done and all that would need to be changed

Thanks ken. Ron I could always have my website reworked. Its a tough decision for me on what to do with my membership with the PWNA at this time. You want to keep supporting them in this time of need because they can use all the support they can get but $350 for what they are offering right now doesn't do me much good....except for the marketing. But as many said in the past just for marketing and not much else whats the point..

I do have 90 days to decide. I'm leaning towards staying on and maybe ride it out one more year to see what happens.....Will see.

Given the current state of PWNA, even if the dues were still $199, it would be a tough call. Heck, even at $1.99, does it make sense to support a dis-organization? Where is that money going? Could renewing a membership be considered enabling? The last I heard was that "changes were coming", but that was months ago and I have heard nothing.

If the dues were $199.00 it would be far easier to swallow....
Still have not see a ballot...

Supporting something that you believe in should never be a hard decision. If you can write a check to do it, you should - from your marketing standpoint, from your "tenure", from your heart through the years.

For the past several years, the forums have been full of questions, accusations & insinuations about the organization. Things are changing because of it. Why would membership bail at this point? It's what they all asked for?

Now is the time to support the group in getting back on track and making the differences that were asked for.

With that said, maybe the PWNA needs to become a little more active with the existing membership, focus on a new membership drive, possibly revisit the dues until the membership numbers are back up a little.....be proactive, not a floating lump.

If membership were to step up and be supportive, the lump might get a little life.

We have had the brand there for a long time. I'm still debating and will for a few months. I suggest waiting to see what the election brings.
