Would you get a Flu Shot - Jul 24th, 08, 09:06 AM

I have an opportunity to be able to offer flu shots at Round Tables & Networking Events if there is enough interest. Before you go -nooooo, I don't want to go to an event and get a shot! - think about it. If you typically get a flu shot, you are spending (a) the $$ for the shot, (b) time away from a job (c) the gas it costs you to go to the appointment.

If there is enough interest (ie, enough people who want to participate), we can arrange for a nurse to be at fall/winter events and just take care of it!

Please check yes or no on the poll

I rarely get sick. They used to offer them at work when I was still in the corporate world. Didn't want to get injected with germs to protect me from something I rarely got.

Ditto. The only shot I will approve is one in a thick, glass tumbler.

Truthfully, I hope that my time if I was traveling accross the country would be better spent.

I may not like the idea, i would give blood as Carlos said because we need the blood and in banks.

However, if the rounds became local and meetings often. I could see this being a plus having a once a year meeting or lunch and getting a shot in the arm.

So i guess at local rounds yes, larger events no.

100 percent accurate Beth. Every year I get to watch 1 or 2 people die from the flu. As much as I hate needles, they don't seem quite as bad as dying

Almost died one year..was sick with fever and chills off and on from before Halloween till after Thanksgiving. Was about the time we started hearing about Sars or whatever that bad stuff is. Clinic never were able to tell me what it was even win taking body samples. May have started as flu and but ended up something else that was only curable with antibiotic. I just know it weakened me for monthes after and but the antis only took 3 days to kill. Took a flu shot the next 2 years after and been good since. I missed last year but plan to get a shot in a couple weeks time. Pharmacist said it takes a couple week for the full effects of the shot to be realized and so she waits till mid month. They coming readily available now for the older or more at risk. Costco is usually like $25. I highly advise getting flu shot. A couple year of older age setting in can make huge dif in whether ya end up sickly. Not worth bringing your entire system down with a bad bout.
