Ideas about flocculants - Apr 14th, 07, 12:22 AM

I have a truck washing business in Australia and am looking for a quick acting flocculant to clean my reclaimed water. I have tried a flocculant that cleans the water but when I re-used the water it left streaks which I believe is from the soap still in the water. I would appreciate any ideas or information to do with flocculants and recycling etc.

This may not help, but...

When making beer, we are deal with HUGe quanties of dissovled solids (yeast) and floccation is critical to clear beer. There are a ton of flocculants on the market, but one in particular comes to mind as a possibility. Polyclar is a finely ground PVC powder. It would assist with floccation, and be trapped by a sand filter.

One thing though, flocculants help with dissolved solids and soap is a mixture not a colloid.

The "trick" is to wash with the recycled water, but rince with fresh water. I do not believe there is a cost effective way to remove the soap from the recycled water.
