Joe, I used to work out of a step van, a Utilimaster body on an F-350 rolling chassis. I really liked it, right up to the part where the thing broke on the way to a big-payday that had been a hard sale.
I wound up pulling up in my fallback pickup, with my equipment crammed in Clampett-style, late, with a mouthful of explanations, even though I had called my customer to explain myself.
Needless to say things weren't nearly as smooth as I intended.
I use an enclosed gooseneck now, and if my primary rig breaks down, I will still look like I know what I'm doing when I pull up. No more Clampett rig.
It just boiled down to less delay when things go wrong. And things do go wrong at all levels! Good luck, no matter what you decide.
