Boat washing - Jul 5th, 08, 01:29 PM

I am interested in knowing what chemicals anyone uses for Boat washing, when the boat is in the slip/Dock?

What are you trying to remove from the boat?

When it's in drydock, on land?

Chemicals and water...NO NO.

In dry dock you could try some Rust Away (OA).

I have a newer Stingray cabin crusier and have found "Spray 9" works well to clean heavy stains on the fiberglass. I've never used a pressure washer on it. Just the garden hose, soap/water, and a few cold beers.

You can buy Spray 9 at Lowes or Home Deopt. A gallon is about 15 dollars or so. The stuff really works great. Also works well on most white gutters with the black streaks.

Be sure to keep updated on the requirement for a EPA discharge permit to wash all boats even if you own it and want to wash it yourself They are coming this fall.
Wash boats with BoatSoap from a boating shop, has wax in it.
To remove rust on fiberglass get FSR at a boating shop
