    Car Lots

Hi everyone ! Been snooping around here for quite some time and have learned a ton of stuff. Everyone on here seems to be so helpful I thought I would finally ask a question. We wash several car lots and they want the cars dried off so not to water spot. Knowing that there is not a lot of money in doing these lots my question is do any of you know of any additives or chems that can be added to the rinse water besides using DI. DI water is not feasable to use because of cost. I was just wandering if anyone had a miracle solution for this. Thanks in advance.

So soft from Sun Brite works well for me. It's cheap and easy to use. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

Thanks for the response guys! We are going to give them a try. We already use a backpack blower and actually quit using it because it was to hard to fit between cars. Been using shammy and water blade.

Soft water can be a good option as well.

Let me know how the differant options work for you, I just started doing a large lot and would be interested to know. Be careful with a back pack as it can suck up sand and dust and blow it back on to the car or worse yet scratch it.

Was wondering what you mean when you say soft water Paul? Not talking about DI are you?

I guess my post from yesterday didn't stick.

While DI water would be your best choice Soft water will also work well and in most cases dry spot free. It will even make your detergents perform better and allow you to use less of it.

Soft water is just that, water that has been run thorough a water softener, like the one in homes, that cleans the water and removes iron, calcium, lime and other impurities that make the water hard which causes it to dry spotty. You can buy a homeowner or commercial system and mount it on your trailer and just recharge it at home as necessary or you can rent recharged tanks from places like Culligan.

Depending on the quality of your water you can usually get between 2000-10000 gallons per tank and just exchange it for a new one. Sure it is an extra expense but it really does make a difference and will save money in the long run as it is much cheaper and easier to deal with than labor is.

That is a very good idea Paul. The ones around here use salt crystals as the softener. What type of system do you use?
