Two problems: Condo's & bugs - Dec 7th, 06, 09:01 AM

Most of the fleet I clean are daycabs but there are also a good many sleepers with very high condo's. An extender brush doesn't do very well and switching back and forth to a long lance every couple trucks is a pain and slows me down. Any suggestions? The next problem is bugs. Now I'm really looking to hear from some people from the south (if your from up north please chime in as well). Between the heat baking them on and the copious amounts of them, anyone have a tried & true technique for dealing with them. I have read posts about different products, but does anyone really have a surefire method so they are no more than an afterthought while I'm at happy hour.

1. Have an extended brush handle just for the condos. This will end the "adjusting " problem.
2. Having a hot water rig really makes a difference. (I don't know if you have hot water or not.)
3. There are some solutions you can buy at auto parts stores that say they work. I have never used any. If you can mix such a solution with your soap, that would be nice.

A few years ago, I managed a fleet of trucks in South FL and the guys would wash the front of the trucks with lemon joy, which has some sort of oil, that got them off, and the next day (from Love Bugs) would come right off with just rinse...don't know if this helps you or not..

You can get bug splats OFF of a surface with a warm damp dryer sheet...

An old detailers trick (but not older than dryer sheets are, though).

Those bugs you have are always going to be difficult to remove. The fact that they are the size of the truck themselves is part of the problem. If you are looking for a fast way...forget it.

If you can pre soak them to get them wet and soften them up that will help. Hot water will benefit you as well (get at least one of those machines hooked up). Otherwise it is just a matter of elbow grease if you are trying to move fast.
