Cool When the wind blows? - Feb 17th, 07, 01:05 AM

I cut out and left early today! I know it's Friday, but it was quite windy. Felt a little bad (not too bad), but was wondering if I was being a wuss? Wind was about 15mph & it seemed more was getting on me and flying away than on my fleet. Washed 1 and had to rinse off 2 more because of overspray. When does everyone else stop? If not, any ideas because they park close together & nothing more fun than doing extra work spraying off the clean one next to the one you just cleaned. Not just trucks but trailers as well. When spraying up high lost a lot of water to the wind instead of on the trailer.

Work through it. When the wind blows our soaps onto the next truck we make sure the wind blows it on a dirty truck. As far as losing water up high maybe try a longer wand to get closer to the surface.

Just part of the fleet washing fun. Sometimes it does get too windy though and there isn't much you can do but go home. Usually that is over 25 mph for us, but we have higher flow machines than you are running.

I hate wind. I also never stop unless it is over 30 MPH or raining, usually per customers request.

ya its tough to give that money up, once you miss it you can never make it up when doing fleet washing.

!"15MPH"! That’s hardly a breeze. LOL we routinely have 40 - 50 winds with gusts to 80mph here. The most wind I have ever worked in is about 65 mph beyond that you cannot get the water to the surface of the trucks! That's when I call it a day and go home.

It was Friday & I called it early for a reason. Everyone knows I could keep going for more. Please don't try to bash. Just trying to get a concensus when everyone says enough. I'm sorry, but anything past 20-25 is a waste of time in my conditions. The 2-4ft between trucks and trailers becomes a wind tunnell and I'm losing chem's & water. I used short and long lances and if the wind is stiff it's blowing whatever I use 45-90 away as soon as it comes out the tip. While it's plausible to keep going I'm a lover & not a fighter, there's always more there tommorow.
