I love the G.S. - Feb 19th, 07, 11:51 PM

I have a billion questions. This one is related to another thread asking "am I too old?" My questions on this thread is for the fleet washers. What do you consider a good day (money)? Is it how many hours, pieces, money, etc...I currently do one giant fleet & they think I should live there which is not practical. I do what I do & then leave. What does the average joe think a good day is?

I think that's a tough question to answer since there are so many variables, but I'm happy if I can make $1200 in 9 hours or so and nothing broke and I'm not too sore!

Why do they feel that way? Do you make more than they feel is right, or do they just want you to always be available for whatever comes up?

Or are you not able to get it all covered? What size is their fleet?

Sorry such a vague question. Also, didn't mean for people to put their incomes on here, I guess just how many pieces/day makes you feel you've done good (I'll average the money myself). Yes, I have a giant fleet that moves all the time. Between the trucks/trailers there is work that could go on 24/7. It's the trucks that bug me cause if I hadn't got one in a while I always here about it from the driver. I guess I shouldn't take it to heart because it's the manager I have to please & not the drivers. If I havn't heard from the "man" than I guess everthing is alright.

I've found a lot of it depends on if the customer respects you or if they just look at a person as a lowly "truck wash guy". When they respect that you are just trying to put food on the table like they are, they seem to treat you a little differently.

Its often to please the driver. The ones that complain in the begining seem to always complain. Keep the manager happy, hes the important one.

You know that saying the customers always right.Well it is true even if their not.You need to fined a way to keep them happy and make money at the same time.I find it easier to wash when no one is around.Find ways to cut corners.I wash about 200 LLV postal units each morning they go once a month.we do about 20 locations soon it wiil be twice a month. Then i go and wash 20 or so trailers. Then back to the shop to do services. We have 11 wash trucks.Just keeping the trucks running so they can go out and make money is a challenge.I'll leave you with a little secret. The key is in the rinse.I've washed trucks almost 20 years and i've always lived by it.It sounds strange but think about it you'll figure it out.
