We don't like "plain" walls much around here :) - Dec 29th, 06, 09:44 AM

My son's birthday is this weekend - turning 9. He's getting a new bedroom (finally got enough kids out of the house that I can put the ones that are left downstairs!) Take a look at one of the walls we finished (it's the only one if the room that will be painted like this) I'll put up pics of the whole room when we get all of the furniture etc in.

That's cool too!
I can see it now....you are going to add children's custom bedroom themes to the biz!
Not a bad idea really....hmmm....

Actually, several years ago, my neighbor and I were going to do that as well as custom painted childrens' furniture - but life went left while we were going right.... you know how that goes LOL! We have one other room in the house that we painted with an "under the sea" theme but I have no pics of it and it's since been turned into an attic. One major yardsale and it's getting redecorated as well.

I'm sure he will be pleased once he sees it!! I think my 4 year old son would have a hard time not peeking! Did you freehand the design? Looks like each piece is random in shape.

Roger & Drew (daughter's Army boyfriend) drew out and labeled the shapes for each color right onto the wall - pretty sure that Roger's Marine background and Drew's current Army job didn't hurt in getting the pattern to be realistic The whole room is going to look really cool except for the hardwood floor (but that's a whole 'nother thread!) I think I may just do a wall to wall floor cloth.

Looks Great! My son liked it too. He is currently in the ARMY (home on leave) and said it looks authentic.

Careful Celeste,

First it's a little faux stone, then some Trompe L'oeil, next it's a workshop.

It's a slippery slope.
