Any overflow work in ATL? -
Nov 9th, 07, 08:09 AM
Things are worse off than I thought here in GA. I called around to 10 different PW co's in the metro area yesterday just to check the pulse of what is going on with business as a whole. I found that 8 out of 10 were not doing hardly any business like me. I just wanted to know if every one else is doing fine what was I doing wrong. I did PU a lead from another PW for a large PW Job that we are bidding together so I am thankful for that. I found out about two other co's that are selling out that have been in biz for about 12 years. So that is 4 PW co's in the last month that I know of just in my area.
I have called every commercial account that I have and then some to try to get something going most say that they are concerned that they can't do any PW because of restrictions or they are either holding off or they don't have anything going on now. As far as residential , I have 2 ads running in two papers, I have an account on service magic (a contractors website) that I have been using for about a year and a half that usefully produces 10-15 leads PM, I have my website that gets several hits PM, I have a billboard box truck that I drive around with my logo all over it, I sent out 88 Emails offering discounts to old leads, I am in the yellowbook, and I have a customer base that is about four years old that is very diversified . This along with door knocking has produced 100+ K per year in biz. All this that I mentioned is producing nothing as of now. Oh and I am getting out passing cards out to any new construction that I see. I did call out of state to some commercial builders that I will go see next week in Nashville TN. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I was speaking with a contractor yesterday that I have known ever since I have been in biz, He suggested that I Mothball the whole thing and go do something else until this thing blows over. I don't want to but it might be the only viable option at this point. All my equipment and truck is paid for so essentially I could do that. It would just suck to work all week to only make a fraction of what I could do PW or Deck staining. Any leads or overflow work that anyone has here in the ATL metro area would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to travel other states as well. I have 1- 8 gal and 1- 5.5 gal PM Hot water machines , 2 surface cleaners , 2- 275 gal tanks on box truck also deck spray equipment. How about using the customer's you have over the last so many years and start a new service, until pressure washing picks back up. Who knows but whatever you do next may produce more income than pressure washing?
It all depends on the market place, but at least you have a customer base to start with. Here are some thoughts off the top of my head. Painting carpet cleaning air duct cleaning floor coatings window cleaning hardwood floor stripping & waxing gutter cleaning landscaping office cleaning concrete designs auto wax & detail dry ice blasting corn cob blasting Post construction clean up with out pressure washing Offer a service that many in your area are not doing and then claim and Master the Market Place. Don't look at the water restrictions as a negative, look as if you are looking for a new business venture. Hey guys, Thanks for responding . I like the idea of the dry cleaning method I will check that out.
I have thought that cobb blasting or soda blasting might be a good alternative. carpet cleaners at least the ones I know are doing ok however it would take several thousand $$ to switch equip which I don't have . I am contacting old residential cust list and were sending out flyers as of Monday. I understand about looking at this in a positive way , some businesses do well during times like this while others don't. Mike, the rekrete website now has the study results conducted by an institute....their conclusions speak for themselves. Its the easiest way to be compliant. CAAPS is a pretty good product too. Kind of neat the way it gels up the oil build up with just some stiff brush agitation (on asphalt too).
LENNY, here is a close guy you could get them through ... Bob Buchness, Rekrete USA 540-630-2016 |

I'm doing a couple things to generate more money.......
1) Setting up a reclaim and recycle system to help on the drought and EPA here in Ga. 2) Builders and contractors are putting off their pressure washing because of the drought so I sell them our concrete sealer at a discounted price for their concrete contractors to apply or better yet I charge them and seal it myself. I explain to them that if you cure and seal concrete correctly when it is first poured, nothing will penetrate and stain the concrete and with little effort it can be cleaned at a later time. Once its sealed, I set up a later time that we will clean it at a Discounted price, because we can clean it faster/better and use less chemicals because nothing has penetrated the pours. For example, one of my customers had some new concrete that we sealed a couple months ago when he was building his home. Last week before it was cleaned, I took a water hose and a broom and showed my customer that the heavy Ga. red clay stains would come up without even pressure washing it or acid washing it. Once he realized what a sealer can do, he says He will seal everything from now on. I am looking at our PW situation as an opportunity, I figure if I can do something no one else is doing ..........its a wide open market. |
